L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.

A friend made me a mix tape yesterday (love you.), and it started with this song. What perfect timing for a simple reminder. The lyrics - what you don't have now will come back around will come back again, you've got heart and you go in your own way - really reminded me today that there is no rush to do EVERYTHING. With the past few weeks so jam packed with meetings, banquets, weddings, papers, reading, updating, and millions of emails. It's important to keep two feet on the ground and remind yourself that what doesn't get done today will still be here tomorrow and you'll get there when you get there.

There are so many people who rush through the day to check as many things off their to-do list as possible. I'm guilty too (so sue me....). But just remember that you'll get there your own way.

On another note: I've completed 2 - 5K's this year. The first went GREAT! Although the winner of the 10K ran in just as I was finishing, I'm still proud of myself for pushing to run without stopping for about 80% of it. The second 5K was not as impressive. I spent all day yesterday walking around in heels coordinating a wedding (Congrats Margaret and Todd!!! pics to come!), needless to say my feet were swollen about twice their typical size and were on FIRE! Poor planning on my part. I did however walk the route with two coworkers from my last job. It was actually really nice to take my time, take in the scenery, and catch up with old friends! To the left is a picture of the scenery we were able to enjoy!

Next up: Warrior Dash...I think I'll actually need to start getting my butt in shape for this one! :)

Peace, Love, and Awesomeness!

Some Numbers...

Here is a list of numbers that are driving my life today...

49 Days until Graduation

59 Days until I leave for Germany

8 Projects to turn in before the end of the semester

34 Days until my last day working with ACE :(

It's 34 degrees outside, but it's supposed to be 70 this time next week

5 days until I'm running my 1st 5K of the year, 12 days until my 2nd, 57 days until my 3rd....ahhh!

Hopefully less than 3 months before I (kinda...) know where I'll be going for the Peace Corps

Less than 7 months until my best friend gets married

10 more days of graduate classes

Ok...ok...I guess that's enough. Peace, Love, and Awesomeness...

Come On Spring!

Dear Spring,
I know you are right around the corner but if you could just hurry up and grace
us with your presence there are many people who would really appreciate it.
Thanks, Your dear dear friend.

This weekend spoiled Wilmington with its 75 degree temperatures and sun shining in the sky. I have to say I really enjoyed the break from the cold, rain, and bitterness but it was such a tease. Today we were back to cold temperatures :( so sad.

The past couple of days I've been thinking a lot about my dear grandmother since she passed away a year ago in March. She was such an amazing woman and there are so many things that I miss about her. For the past few weeks I have been purchasing flowers to have around the house just because they brighten my day. As I was driving home from the grocery store today with flowers in the car, I was thinking about how the flowers smelled like the basement of my grandmothers house. She ran a floral shop during the latter years of her life and I always remember all the flowers she had sitting in big bunches all over the place, I remember watching her meticulously arranging and rearranging, and then driving around town holding flower arrangements in each hand to deliver the beautiful masterpieces to her clients. There are so many things that I remember that bring back warm thoughts and feelings. Here are some pictures from her life...I love to watch her style change through the years.

Not my finest hour.

5 am. is. early. and is not my finest hour. This morning was the ticket sales kick off for B.o.B at UNCW so the executive board all congregated at 5 am this morning at the student center to find people camped out waiting to buy tickets. In the words of Michael, "camping, like legit camping, with tents." Despite the early morning, it was so much fun to see people excited about our show and to see all the ACErs put their whole heart and energy into making this event great!

In other news....I'm looking forward to seeing my best friend in less than 20 days. We are going to look at bridesmaids dresses and shoes for her wedding in October. She has picked out both that she really likes, and I love her style. The dress to the left is the dress that she has picked out for us, it's super cute and her color is purple. I just am keeping my fingers crossed that it's flattering on all of us. All five of us will be together for a weekend of dress shopping and it's her birthday!!!

Peace, Love, and Awesomeness.

Love is in the Air

Today I'm so very happy to have so many people I love and cherish in my life and it's a day that I really think about how much more I wish I could be for each and every person that has taught me so many things in life.

Here are some other things that I'm loving right now:

Live the language.

Soon. I. Will. Follow. My. Heart.

Full of Love.

Things to be happy about.

Peace Love and Awesomeness!

On Attitude

Attitude—
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people say, or think, or do. It is more important than giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home.
The remarkable thing is, we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for the day.I am convinced that life is ten percent what happens to me and ninety percent how I react to it.
--Charles Swindoll

I read this quote today as I was doing one of my anomaly tasks as a corporate intern (gotta love it!). I thought about it for awhile and realized that this is soooo incredibly true and something I should think about more often.

I am that person who comes home from work at the end of the day and vegs out. I am a true and true introvert, needing time and space to regroup and be a normal person in society again. I don’t like to chat about my workday until I’ve had “me” time and dinner with tons of carbs to revitalize my endorphins. However, I realize that I encounter many people immediately at the end of my workday and their perception of my attitude is probably pretty negatively skewed.

So today, I’m making a vow to make a conscious effort to adjust my attitude to realize that · It can impact my attitude on life·
  • It can make or break relationships·
  • It is more important than giftedness or skill (although I envy people who truly have a gift)
  • I need to embrace a positive attitude ALL day EVERY day

Attitude IS everything! (I think the picture along with this post is a perfect representation of what attitude should be...maybe my face should be on one of those office motivational posters with "ATTITUDE" written in bold letters under it!)

On that note, love my roomie right now for spending long hours planning our road trip to Oregon and even making a Sami-friendly spreadsheet of hotels, sites, mileage, and costs. Love her for understanding my anal retentive organizational-ness.
